Who: Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children, Inc. (CASA)
What: A non-profit Oklahoma Corporation organized to recruit, screen, train and supervise community volunteers to serve as advocates for the "best interests" of abused and neglected children in the juvenile courts systems. CASA for Children serves Muskogee and Wagoner Counties. CASA also educates the public on the issues and prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Any interested person can request a Court Appointed Special Advocate be appointed to a case that is in juvenile court and the children are under the custody or supervision of the Child Welfare Division of the Muskogee or Wagoner Department of Human Services
When: CASA's Board of Directors meets bi-monthly on the second Friday in the Bank of Oklahoma Community Room on the 3rd floor of the BOk/Severs Building located at 215 State Street.
Where: The CASA offices are located at 215 State Street, Suite 500 in the BOk/Severs Building in downtown Muskogee.

Age Group: CASA volunteers serve children from birth to 18 years of age. To be a CASA volunteer you must be 21 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.

When: The league is active during the months of August-November

Who: Muskogee Public Library Youth Services Department 
What: Collections now serving youth 0 - 25 beginning with our newest addition Emergent Literacy board books. Come browse our pink cart at the new titles for your child 0 - 4 years of age. These books were made possible through a state grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
        Summer reading is right around the corner. "Dragons, dreams and daring deeds" is the theme for the summer reading program for youth 0- 12. Our program is slated to begin June 2, 2005. Weekly programs will include story time, craft hour and our weekly performers. Flyers will soon be distributed to area schools and daycares. NEW PROGRAM: "Joust Read" is the theme for Young Adults 13 -up who participate in summer reading. They will have special days each week for chess, Yu-gi-oh, and the So Simple Society (handicrafts like knitting, crocheting, room dcor and even makeup make-over) you "just will not believe the magic of the summer will take us to the CASTLE OF MUSKOGEE. Everyone who completes the program guidelines will be invited. It's the party of the SUMMER. Watch educational channel in the coming weeks for more information.
